Attendance

The Attendance module allows you to record daily student attendance, view historical records, and automatically notify parents when their child is absent.

Marking Attendance (School Admin)

  1. Go to Academics → Attendance in the left sidebar
  2. Use the ← → date navigator (top of the page) to select the date
  3. Select a class using the class filter pills below the date navigator
  4. If the class has sections, select the section tab
  5. The student list for that class and date appears:
    • Click a student’s status chip to toggle: Present → Absent → Late → Leave
    • By default, all students start as Present when you first open a date
  6. Click Save Attendance when done
You can mark attendance for past dates if you missed a day. Future dates are disabled — you cannot mark attendance in advance.

Marking Attendance (Teacher)

Teachers access attendance through the Teacher Portal:
  1. Log in at micronerp.com
  2. Go to Attendance in the teacher sidebar
  3. Select a Class and Section from the dropdowns (only assigned classes appear)
  4. Select the Date
  5. Toggle each student’s attendance status
  6. Click Save
Teachers can only mark attendance for classes assigned to them. If a teacher cannot see a class, check that the class teacher or subject teacher assignment has been made in Academics → Classes.

Attendance Statuses

Viewing and Editing Past Attendance

To view or correct a past date:
  1. Use the date navigator to go back to the date
  2. The saved attendance records will load
  3. Make changes as needed
  4. Click Save Attendance again
Editing past attendance is unrestricted by default. If your school needs an audit trail or wants to restrict editing to the current day only, contact support to configure this.

Attendance Reports

Student-Level Summary

Each student’s profile page (People → Students → [Student Name]) shows an attendance summary:
  • Monthly count of Present / Absent / Late / Leave days
  • Overall attendance percentage for the academic year
  • A calendar view showing each day’s status

Class-Level Report

  1. Go to Academics → Attendance
  2. Select a class
  3. Click View Report (top right)
  4. Filter by date range (weekly, monthly, custom)
  5. Export as PDF or Excel
The report shows each student’s attendance percentage and can highlight students who fall below a threshold (configurable in Settings).

Parent Notifications

When a student is marked Absent, Micron can automatically send a notification to the linked parent via SMS and/or email. To enable this:
  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Turn on Absent Notification to Parents
  3. Ensure the parent has a valid mobile number or email on file
SMS notifications consume notification credits. Make sure your credit balance is sufficient. You can top up credits from Settings → Notification Credits.

Holiday Calendar

Mark school holidays so they do not appear as absent days in reports:
  1. Go to Settings → Academic Year → Holidays
  2. Click Add Holiday
  3. Enter the date and name (e.g., Diwali, Republic Day)
  4. Save
Holidays are shown in a different colour in the attendance calendar and are excluded from attendance percentage calculations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can attendance be marked from a mobile phone? Yes. The Micron web app is fully responsive. Both School Admins and Teachers can mark attendance on a mobile browser. What happens if I do not mark attendance on a particular day? No record is created. That date shows as “Not Marked” in reports. It is not counted as absent — it is simply missing data. Mark attendance for that day by navigating back to it. Can I mark the whole class as present at once? Yes. Click Mark All Present at the top of the attendance list. You can then individually change the status of absent or late students. Is there a way to see which teacher marked attendance last? Currently, the attendance log shows the last-modified timestamp. Contact support if you need a full audit log of who made each change.
