Exams & Results

The Exams module covers the full examination cycle: creating exam schedules, entering marks subject-by-subject, and generating report cards for students and parents.

Setting Up Exam Types

Before scheduling exams, define the exam types (also called terms or assessments) for your school:
  1. Go to Academics → Exams
  2. Click Manage Exam Types
  3. Click Add Exam Type
  4. Enter:
    • Name (e.g., Unit Test 1, Half Yearly Exam, Annual Exam, FA1, SA2)
    • Weightage % (optional) — used to calculate final/cumulative scores
  5. Click Save
CBSE schools often use FA1, FA2, SA1, SA2 with specific weightages. Create these once and reuse them every year.

Scheduling an Exam

  1. Go to Academics → Exams
  2. Click Schedule Exam
  3. Fill in:
    • Exam Name / Type — select from your exam types
    • Class — which class this schedule is for
    • Subject — select the subject

    • Start Time and End Time (optional)
    • Maximum Marks — total marks for this exam (e.g., 100, 50, 25)
    • Passing Marks — minimum marks to pass (e.g., 33)
  4. Click Save
Repeat this for each subject in each class for the exam. You can create entries in bulk using the Bulk Schedule feature.

  2. Find the exam schedule entry
  3. Click Enter Marks

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter marks for a student who was absent? Yes. Enter AB or leave the field blank. Absent marks are shown separately on the report card and not counted in the percentage. What if I entered wrong marks and already published results? You can still edit the marks. Go to the exam entry, click Enter Marks, correct the value, and save. The report card updates automatically. Parents who have already downloaded may have the old version, so you can optionally notify them of the correction. Can I create multiple exam schedules for the same exam type? Yes. For example, for “Half Yearly Exam”, you can create separate schedule entries for each subject on different dates. Is there a way to calculate ranks automatically? Yes. When you generate or preview report cards, Micron calculates class rank based on overall percentage. Rank display on the printed card depends on your template settings.
