Homework

The Homework module allows teachers to post assignments for their classes. Parents and students can view homework through their portals and mark it as completed.

Assigning Homework (Teacher)

  1. Log in to the Teacher Portal
  2. Go to Homework in the sidebar
  3. Click Assign Homework
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Class and Section — select from your assigned classes
    • Subject — select the subject this homework belongs to
    • Title — a short title (e.g., “Chapter 5 Exercise”, “Write a paragraph on seasons”)
    • Description — full details of the assignment. You can use formatting (bold, lists, etc.)
    • Due Date — the date by which students must complete it
    • Attachment (optional) — upload a worksheet, PDF, or image (up to 10 MB)
  5. Click Post Homework
The homework appears immediately in the Parent Portal and Student Portal for all students in the selected class and section.
Keep homework titles short and clear so parents can quickly understand what is expected. Use the Description field for detailed instructions.

Assigning Homework (School Admin)

School Admins can also post homework on behalf of a teacher:
  1. Go to Academics → Homework in the main sidebar
  2. Click Assign Homework
  3. The form is the same as the teacher flow, but you must also select the Teacher this is being posted under
  4. Fill in all details and click Post Homework

Viewing Homework

School Admin View

  1. Go to Academics → Homework
  2. Use the filters to narrow down by class, subject, or date range
  3. You see a list of all homework entries across the school with title, class, subject, due date, and who posted it
  4. Click any entry to see the full details

Teacher View (Teacher Portal)

Teachers see only homework they have posted. They can filter by class or subject.

Parent View (Parent Portal)

Parents see homework assigned to their child’s class:
  • Upcoming homework (due date in the future) is highlighted
  • Overdue homework (past due date, not marked complete) is flagged in red
  • Completed homework is shown with a green tick
Parents can tap any homework entry to read the full description and download any attached files.

Editing or Deleting Homework

To edit posted homework:
  1. Find the homework entry in the list
  2. Click Edit (pencil icon)
  3. Make changes to the description, due date, or attachment
  4. Click Save
To delete:
  1. Click Delete (trash icon) on the homework entry
  2. Confirm deletion
Deleting homework removes it from the Parent Portal immediately. If parents have already seen and noted the assignment, inform them through a circular or message before deleting.

Tracking Completion

Parents can mark homework as Completed from the Parent Portal once their child has finished it. This gives teachers a quick view of who has done the work:
  1. In the Teacher Portal, open a homework entry
  2. Click Completion Status
  3. You see a list of students with their completion status: Completed, Pending, or Not Marked
Completion status is self-reported by parents. Micron does not have automated submission or grading functionality for homework — it is primarily a communication and tracking tool.

Attaching Files to Homework

You can attach a PDF worksheet, Word document, or image to any homework entry:
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Accepted formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, PNG, JPEG
  • Files are stored securely and accessible only to parents/students of that class

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a teacher assign homework to multiple classes at once? Currently, each homework entry is for one class-section combination. To assign the same homework to two sections (e.g., Class 6-A and Class 6-B), create two separate entries. Can parents reply or add comments on homework? Not currently. The homework module is one-directional — teachers post, parents and students view. For two-way communication, use the Circulars module or contact teachers via the school’s communication channel. Is there a way to set recurring homework? Not currently. Each assignment must be posted manually. For regular assignments (e.g., daily reading for 15 minutes), many schools post a circular at the start of term instead. Can students submit homework digitally? Not currently. Micron’s homework module is for posting and tracking — actual submission is done in the classroom. Digital submission is on the product roadmap.
